The Outsiders is a novel by S.E. Hinton. She was 15 when she started writing the novel and 18 when it was published in 1967. The book follows two rival groups, the Greasers which are greasy and poor and the Socs who are rich and soiled.

In my opinion, the Outsiders should not be banned from schools. If you see it my way, the kids are going to learn about the stuff anyway, so it's better sooner than later. Most of them know about it anyway. I could understand if it's banned from a elementary school, but from a middle school? They know about it anyway. The Outsiders is a great book and the reasons that it is banned are understandable, but kids need to learn how life is for some other people. They should know what it feels like to come from a broken home because, when I read this book I really connected with it because it I never knew what it was like to come from a broken home. Now I understand what it feels like. This book is honestly fantastic, it should be rethought about.
