“Johnny your moms here said the nurse in a quiet voice.”

“I don’t want to see her…”

 But by the time he started talking the nurse was gone and his mother was there.

“Johnny” she said

He had ignored her even though she knew he heard her.

“I’m sorry” she slowly started to say

“I’m sorry for being such a bad parent to you.”

“No you’re not” Johnny thought but didn't say

She said” I’m sorry” one last time then walked away

Ponyboy walked in the room about an hour after

“What happened?” pony asked.

“She said she’s sorry but I know she’s not she just feels bad about the situation not what she’s done”

”I know” Ponyboy said quietly “at least you have us, were your real family”
