The Outsiders is a novel by S.E. Hinton set in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1965. The book follows two rival groups, the Greasers and the Socs who hold on to what they can amid the turbulent social changes of the 1960's. the author was 15 when she started writing the novel.
I think the book The Outsiders should be banned from schools because of it's portrayal of gang violence, underage smoking and drinking, and strong language. Some may argue that the book shouldn't be banned because it inspires looking at life as a outsider and feeling as though is being treated as an outsider is a matter of one's point of view.
