Assignment

Your Task: Rewrite the hospital scene where Johnny's mother comes to visit. In your version, the nurse does not turn her away, but lets her in the room. Imagine Johnny's reaction. What would Johnny's mother say to him? What would Johnny say to her?

You are writing part of a narrative, not a script. Sentences, punctuation, and paragraphs should appear the way it would in a book. Use the book or passage above as an example. Pay special attention to the dialogue and how the author starts a new paragraph each time she changes speakers.

   The Outsiders is about a young boy, Ponyboy, growing up with just his two brothers, Dally and Sodapop. They’re in a “gang” called The Greasers. The Greasers are like one big family. They go against The Socs, which is another group. The Greasers aren’t as rich or popular as The Socs.

 

   The Outsiders shouldn’t be banned because is teaches people about stuff they may not know. The Outsiders is a good way to teach young adults about not being in gangs, smoking and drinking. It’s a really good book, people think its all about just smoking, and all that stuuf but its not. It has a really good lesson to it and its a recommended book!
