Assignment

Your Task: Rewrite the hospital scene where Johnny's mother comes to visit. In your version, the nurse does not turn her away, but lets her in the room. Imagine Johnny's reaction. What would Johnny's mother say to him? What would Johnny say to her?

You are writing part of a narrative, not a script. Sentences, punctuation, and paragraphs should appear the way it would in a book. Use the book or passage above as an example. Pay special attention to the dialogue and how the author starts a new paragraph each time she changes speakers.

                                           The Hospital Scene

A nurse appeared in the doorway "Johnny", she said quietly, "your mother's here to see you." Johnny opened his eyes. and what he said shocked me and Two-Bit."let her in" he muttered as he turned to us.
  As she walked into the room she gave us a ungodly stare and went right to Johnny."Are you ok my baby boy?" she said with fright. Johnny's jaw dropped as she said this and responded "I am ok, are you?"
  Two-Bit walked up to her "Do you think he is ok!?!" he shouted, "He will never be able to walk again!" Johnny looked at Two-Bit and said "Stop Two-Bit."
  I grabbed him by his shoulders and tried to pull him back but he was too strong. He whipped out his black switchblade and shanked Johnny's mom in her neck. Johnny screamed "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!" 
  As she bleeds out on the floor Two-Bit took a few shots of morphine and overdoses. As Two-Bit goes into shock he muttered "Win the rumble for me and Johnn...." then he goes into shock.
