Assignment

Your Task: Rewrite the hospital scene where Johnny's mother comes to visit. In your version, the nurse does not turn her away, but lets her in the room. Imagine Johnny's reaction. What would Johnny's mother say to him? What would Johnny say to her?

You are writing part of a narrative, not a script. Sentences, punctuation, and paragraphs should appear the way it would in a book. Use the book or passage above as an example. Pay special attention to the dialogue and how the author starts a new paragraph each time she changes speakers.

     So Two bit and I went to the hospital to see Johnny at the hospital, when we got there Johnny’s mom showed up. Johnny told the nurse that he didn’t want her near him.  The nurse let Johnny’s mom anyway. Johnny got furious; his mother came in cussing at him telling him it was his fault that he’s in the hospital. She was making Two bit and I nervous. That’s when Two bit said something,
“Hey you need to quit talking to him like that even if you are his mom.” That’s when she got mad at us.
 “I can go what I want I am a grown adult. You helped him get into this mess. All you kids are horrible people.” Said Johnny’s mother.
Then Johnny said quietly “Get out your not my mother. Leave I hate you “ So the nurse escorted her out. The doctors asked us to leave too.

   * Johnny’s POV*

     The doctors won’t stop asking me questions, but all I want to do is sleep.  The doctors know about my parents beating me now, I told them so they get put away. I’m scared to die. I just want my best friend Pony to be with me.
