Assignment

Your Task: Rewrite the hospital scene where Johnny's mother comes to visit. In your version, the nurse does not turn her away, but lets her in the room. Imagine Johnny's reaction. What would Johnny's mother say to him? What would Johnny say to her?

You are writing part of a narrative, not a script. Sentences, punctuation, and paragraphs should appear the way it would in a book. Use the book or passage above as an example. Pay special attention to the dialogue and how the author starts a new paragraph each time she changes speakers.

                                                                 The Outsiders
 

    The Outsiders is a novel by S.E. Hinton set in, Oklahoma in 1965. The outsiders should be banned because it has drugs and alcohol abuse. also portrayal of gang violence, underage smocking and drinking. Excessive violence, obscenities. The Outsiders is unchristian values, lack of adult role models.

    It also should be banned because it children are exposed to things they aren't prepared for. The Outsiders has strong language, expose family dysfunction. Characters in the Outsiders have broken homes. Glamorizing smocking and drinking. Looking at life as an outsider and feeling as though one is being treated as an outsider is a matter of one's point of view.

   Looking at life now from the book I have experienced someone drinking an smoking and I understand how they feel now.  Drinking and smoking can change a person like they could be happy one moment and angry the next moment. The world will always have drugs and alcohol.
