Assignment

Your Task: Rewrite the hospital scene where Johnny's mother comes to visit. In your version, the nurse does not turn her away, but lets her in the room. Imagine Johnny's reaction. What would Johnny's mother say to him? What would Johnny say to her?

You are writing part of a narrative, not a script. Sentences, punctuation, and paragraphs should appear the way it would in a book. Use the book or passage above as an example. Pay special attention to the dialogue and how the author starts a new paragraph each time she changes speakers.

        The nurse came in the room behind me, “Jonny ,  your mother is here to see you”.
       “NO ,I don’t want to see her  for what she ‘s done to me”. Jonny said. “ She don’t care about me anymore and I don’t care about her”.
      “ Well she’s your mother and she misses you”. The nurse was wanting Jonny’s mother to come in so she left the room and told her to come with her and they came in the room together and saw the nasty burned on his back. She gasp in horrified fear.
      “ Jonny why were you with those stupid kids”.
      “MOM why are you in here ,I don’t want you here , I don’t care what you say I want you out”.

    Sergio, you have a nice start. Be sure to start a new paragraph when you change speakers. You also have one long run-on sentence in the middle that needs to be fixed.
